New President at Chamber of Commerce

The Chamber would like to announce that Carolyn Davies is the new president at the Chamber of Commerce.

Carolyn Davies has moved up from her role as the ACOC’s first vice president to the presidency after former President Tim Ternosky vacated the post after he had to move away due to work related reasons. Her ascension to the president’s job was approved by the ACOC at the board meeting Wednesday July 6.

“I’m really excited,” said Davies, a former town councillor and co-owner of the Bondy House Bed & Breakfast. “I think we can be more dynamic.”

Davies added she is “very honoured to have been moved into this position” and praised her predecessor.

“Certainly we will miss Tim as he was a good leader,” she said.

The ACOC has moved progressively to support businesses in Amherstburg for many years, the new president said, adding that it has made a move to support its downtown businesses as many towns have challenges in ensuring their downtown cores remain vibrant.

“The Chamber has strategically created events to bring activity to the downtown core,” said Davies, citing the July 22-23 Mardi Gras as an example.

New Windsor Essex “Harvest Festival” in development.

Amherstburg: ONTARIO (April 12, 2016) The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the development of a new, regional Harvest Festival in Amherstburg, Ontario on the beautiful grounds of Fort Malden National Historic Site of Canada on September 9, 10, 11, 2016.

Celebrating our rich agricultural heritage and local food and drink producers, this event will promote a growing industry of locally grown food, craft beer, fruit and grape wines, distilleries and thoughtfully resourced restaurants.

“The Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce is to be commended for stepping forward and creating a Windsor Essex Harvest Festival to celebrate local food and drink. This builds upon our culinary tourism strategy and provides a perfect setting on the banks of Fort Malden to showcase the best our region has to offer from products grown and/or produced in our own backyard”, says Gordon Orr; CEO Tourism Windsor Essex Pelee Island

“We believe that holding premier events such as the Harvest Fest, allows us to celebrate the efforts of all local, engaged  businesses within our region; that’s what makes Windsor Essex incredibly special!” comments Tim Ternosky; president of the Amherstburg Chamber of Commerce.

“Our region is blessed with a rich culture of place, source, people and product. Why not recognize the producers who work hard every day to bring local fare to the table?” adds event chairperson, Aldo DiCarlo.
