Amherstburg Karate Club
The Amherstburg Karate Club (AKC) was started during the COVID-19 pandemic by Sensei Chad Waldron, Sensei Matthew Gholampoor, and Senpai Stefan Miller.
At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, our local Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate-do School had closed down, believed to be for safety reasons and government pandemic policies and restrictions. Training had come to a complete halt for all three of us until such time it was deemed safe to train together once again. Later in the year, Sensei Chad carried on with his training, leading the way for Sensei Matthew and Senpai Stefan. Training had taken place in our backyards, basements, garages, and virtually, during the lockdowns. Over time, thirteen (13) wonderful people had joined our training regime, leading to the idea of opening our very own karate school.
On Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 6:00 p.m., our first class was set in motion. Now, Amherstburg Karate Club is fully operational, having three (3) age-group classes, twice weekly, with extra days on the weekends in the spring, summer and fall
